I had to give up my other map. They changed the biome that the village was built in so that it snowed and turned the water to ice, completely ruining my work =/ I might start it up again, but I don't think I will right away.
I downloaded the weekly update a few days ago, as it had been released early and I wanted to check out the new redstone light blocks that had been introduced. So I got my hands on it and started a Superflat map just to play around. And then I started building... I started by building a circle... before it turned into a large fountain. As seen below. Once I had built it, I started to build a small courtyard around it... with bushes for decoration.

Behind the waterfall are light blocks with redstone torches behind it, so that it appears to light up at night. Light blocks are also underneath the bushes so that they, too, light up.

Ignore the bed, that's just to skip the nights and the rain xD My laptop doesn't like it when it rains. Anyway, here is an image of what it looks like during the day:

The fountain didn't take that long to build... but I didn't stop there, either. I moved a little way away from the fountain and began building... it started with some steps, before I made the outline for the entire mansion. I was a little stuck on how to do the actual entrance, but I managed it in the end, doing the windows to that floor in a similar style. The small wall that is the outline of the mansion is the beginnings of the basement, or first floor. I am planning on having it populated with servant quarters and storage.

In this next image, you can see the floor for the first floor, made from wood. You can also see in the background the outline for the windows, along with with the outline for where the next floor is going to be built. You can see the outline for the courtyard.

After I had done all the outlining, I concentrated on the outer wall. The window shown below is how the entire outer wall is built, with stone slabs jutting out the outline of the window and down to the ground. The wall itself is made up of Cobblestone and Stone Brick.

After I had completed the walls, I then began on the courtyard. I extended it with another wall, and added arches for door ways. The wood between the outer courtyard wall, and the inner courtyard wall was replaced with Cobblestone. Sorry for the dark image, I took it at night xD

After I had done the outline and the door arches, I then worked on completing the walls. I also added windows so that you can see the courtyard from inside of the mansion. The next image is of the completed walls.

Here is an image of the inside of the courtyard with the overhang which will be part of the second floor. As you can see there are pillars supporting the second floor. I have not yet done the actual decoration inside of the courtyard.

That is all that I have done at the moment. The next thing I plan on working on is the outline for the first floor rooms. What do you think for a make it up as I go along? xDD
